How an Americano works
Every player plays with a different partner each round, so you never get stuck with the same pairing all night. Each match is two pairs on one court.
Players score their own points, usually from the points their pair wins in the match. A common way to run it is a fixed number of points per match, such as 16 or 24, or a timed round. After the last round, add up each player's points: the highest total wins.
Coaching tips, not rules
Agree the points per match and the rest-round rules before round one, and swap courts when the round ends.
Rounds that work
With one court per four players, everyone plays every round. If you have extra players, the rest rounds are spread so nobody sits out twice before everyone has sat out once.
To meet every other player once as a partner, play as many rounds as there are other players: 7 rounds for 8 players, 11 for 12.
| Players | Courts | Playing each round | Rest each round |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 1 | 4 | 0 |
| 6 | 1 | 4 | 2 |
| 8 | 2 | 8 | 0 |
| 10 | 2 | 8 | 2 |
| 12 | 3 | 12 | 0 |
| 16 | 4 | 16 | 0 |
Americano questions
- What is a padel Americano?
- A social format where every player partners with a different person each round. Players score their own points across all rounds and the highest total wins.
- How many players do I need?
- Four is the minimum for one court. This generator handles 4 to 16 players and up to four courts.
- What happens if I have extra players?
- Extra players rest in turn. Rests are spread so nobody sits out a second time before everyone has sat out once.
- How many rounds should we play?
- To partner every other player once, play one round fewer than the number of players: 7 for 8 players, 11 for 12. Fewer rounds make a shorter night.
- Can I share the schedule?
- Yes. Copy the share link and send it. Anyone who opens it sees the same rounds, courts and names.
- Can I print it?
- Yes. The print view gives a landscape sheet with every round, a score line per match and a scoring grid for the totals.
